Noblis Employees Unite in Offices Across the Country; Serve Operation Homefront and Local Charities

June All-Company Event Unites Noblis Employees in Service

This June, Noblis held the company’s summer installment of “Noblis United,” a three-times yearly event that unites employees across all 10 Noblis offices. During the event, it was announced that Noblis has been named a “Top Workplace” for the fifth year in a row, and employees got the chance to participate in a company-wide service event.

At Noblis, giving back to our communities is a part of our mission. That’s why the June Noblis United event, which focuses on culture, includes a service activity. This year, Noblis contributed over 1,000 employee service hours to 5 organizations that support hunger, homelessness, and educational initiatives. In keeping with our dedication to contributing “locally,” each Noblis office chose a beneficiary local to them, that serves their community.

At our HQ in Reston, Va., employees gathered together to support Operation Homefront’s “Back to School Brigade” program, which brings free school supplies to thousands of military families across the country each year. For this activity, employees filled backpacks of supplies that will be distributed to families stationed in the D.C. metro area region.A local moving company, JK Moving Servicesalso participated in the effort by picking up and distributing filled backpacks.

“Nationally, we’re doing 41,000 of these backpacks this year, so think about the impact—the smiles and confidence from the child, alleviating the financial burden on the parent. Here at Noblis, you contributed to that mission,” Margi Kirst, Chief Development Officer at Operation Homefront said when she visited Noblis on United Day.

Operation Homefront continually measures the effectiveness of their programs, and asks military families one important question— did this program make them feel “stronger, stable, and more secure as a family?” From that survey, the Back to School Brigade program outcomes have exceeded 96% every year.

Some of Operation Homefront’s other work includes supporting newly-expecting parents with needed resources, catering holiday meals for military families, and honoring military spouses at special ceremonies. You can contribute to their mission by visiting their website here.

At Noblis other offices, employees packed kits of food, toiletries, and school supplies for a variety of charities and organizations, including So Others Might Eat, a local Boys and Girls Club, local elementary schools, and one local VA Hospital.

“Noblis United service activities give us the best of two worlds. We get the feeling of being stronger together and united in our giving efforts, and the personal satisfaction of directly impacting those in our own communities” said Anna, a Noblis employee working in Danville, Va.

Noblis is committed to uniting and engaging our employees and connecting them to our mission—that’s why providing opportunities like Noblis United is crucial. Giving back is just one way we meet our goal of doing work “for the best of reasons” and for the good of the nation.
