RESTON, Va.— November 26, 2019 – Noblis, a leading provider of science, technology and strategy services to the federal government, has joined the University of Texas at San Antonio (UTSA), National Security Collaboration Center (NSCC). Noblis senior leadership took part in a signing ceremony last week at the center along with university officials and Brigadier Gen. (Ret.) Guy Walsh, the NSCC director.

“We have developed tools and technologies that are force multipliers for critical cyber missions, helping government agencies provide cybersecurity at scale, with speed,” said Amr ElSawy, president and chief executive officer, Noblis. “We look forward to our involvement with the center and helping to advance research and solutions which contribute to our national security.”

Noblis cybersecurity expertise includes developing automated analytics that find threats and malicious behavior in large-scale client data sets and hidden networks; technologies that automatically detect and respond to attacks; applying machine learning to identify patterns, threats and fraud; and solutions that help government systems comply with cybersecurity policies and identify and mitigate risks. Noblis has an established presence in San Antonio supporting the 16th Air Force and other DOD and Intel customers.

“Our research agreement with UTSA drives our Noblis Sponsored Research program in exciting new directions,” said Christopher Barnett, vice president and chief technology officer, Noblis. “Not only will we collaborate with talented students and professors, the outcomes developed will be readily applied to our customers’ challenges.”

In addition to its NSR program, Noblis has a robust intern program which also drives innovation and it includes interns from UTSA that have become fulltime employees.

“This research is focused on ensuring the trustworthiness of machine learning systems,” said Jordin Cohen, Ph.D., vice president, Defense and Homeland Security, Noblis. “Without that trust and widespread adoption, the realization of the benefits of these systems will continue to be delayed.”

The NSCC was formed to enhance the nation’s defense, security and intelligence ecosystems by providing state-of-the-art facilities, capabilities and competencies where government, academia, and industry collaborate to create innovative solutions for our nation’s most difficult challenges. The center and its partners are also helping to develop a highly competent and accessible workforce for the national security enterprise.
