Challenge
Technical teams at the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) needed to aggregate and analyze data from documents stored in various systems to make informed decisions and develop solutions. The challenge was that many of these documents, like PDF architectural diagrams and IT workflows, contained both structured and unstructured data that was difficult to extract and use.
Solution
Noblis designed an AI-driven analytics knowledge platform to easily ingest disparate data and dynamically visualize information. To achieve this:
- We built a cloud-based analytics environment that connects data stored across the agency’s systems and transforms complex datasets into easily understandable visuals like charts, graphs and maps.
- We leveraged the latest AI technologies, such as natural language processing, named entity recognition, optical character recognition and proven machine learning image classification models to extract text and image information and drive a deeper contextual understanding of agency data.
Impacts
CMS can leverage the benefits of an AI-driven KMP in an advanced data analytics environment that enables them to review data in a novel way, pinpoint agency challenge areas and drive enterprise improvement activities.
